For Karina Schmidt, a naturopath who values a sustainable and natural home, we transformed a dark, cluttered living room into a bright, welcoming family space — with a seamlessly integrated children's corner
The Brief :One challenge many families share.
How do you integrate a children's play area that fits seamlessly into a stylish, adult living space — without the room feeling chaotic or compromised?
For Karina, the answer was a considered colour concept and the use of warm, natural materials. The children's corner was designed to feel like a natural extension of the room — not an afterthought. The result: a wellbeing sanctuary for the whole family.

Before:
Dark, closed-off and not quite working_ A large sofa blocked the double doors between the hallway and the living room. The room felt heavy, unwelcoming and difficult to navigate — especially with children.
After · Key Changes:
What changed — and why it matters. On Valerie's recommendation, the layout of the room was fundamentally rethought. Where a large sofa had blocked the double doors, a welcoming entrance from the hallway into the living space now opens the room completely.
